"The Half Has Never Been Told"

HomeWelcome to the living legends, simple truth of reggae. (Brian Atkinson)Sep 25, 2006
Happy you have visited Brian Atkinson's multiply page, hope it was worth your time, please come back again and learn more about the studio one bassist (bassy). Brian Atkinson whom took over the reigns from LLoyd Brevett in September 1965, (when he Brevett left the Soul Brothers Band, after the breakup of the Skatalites in June/July, 1965 (Studio One), for engagements on the north coast of Jamaica) Lead by Rolando Alphonso and later by Bobby Ellis. Brian Atkinson (Studio One), wrote bass lines to many national and international artists songs and groups too numerous to mention at this time. See websites for more information, "I am eternally humbled".
Blessed Love!

He was fortunate enough to be inducted into the STUDIO ONE fold, Jamaica, upon arrival in kingston 1965. And as said before taking over from LLoyd Brevett of the Skatalites. Performing and creating new bass lines (Soul Brothers, Sound Dimension, Jamaica All Stars, Brentford All Stars, Soul Vendors) creating hundreds of Rhythms and patterns throughout their tenure. Voiced at a later date everyday, after 5pm by pretty well every artist in Jamaica W.I.. and these rhythms are still being used today, that created the standard upon which the Reggae Industry is built. Spanning four decades and going strong. Securing a place in the history books as creators of the Reggae Sound, Studio One Sound (music). Upon departing Jamaica in 1968, Mittoo, Isaacs and Atkinson migrated to Canada on their own time regrouping in Toronto, continuing their legacy of reggae music.

Prior to Jamaica Recording Studio, (Studio One).
Brian was a member of the "Serenaders Band" playing guitar (Rusea's school band - lead by Tony Ramsay), that won 1st prize at an all Island wide band contest in 1964. He was also the first (1st) prize recipient/winner of an Island wide Art contest announced at the Montpellier fair that same year - receiving; a 1st prize ribbon and some British Pounds, 1964..
